Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli (1881–1963) was the 261st pope of the Catholic Church under the name Pope John XXIII, serving from 1958 until his death in 1963. During his five years of pontificate, he promoted renewal within the Church. He was beatified in 2000 and canonized in 2014 alongside Pope John Paul II.
