The Scheunenviertel quarter in Berlin was originally known as the "barn quarter" at the end of the 17th century when barns were removed from the city center and relocated there. It later became a neighborhood where large numbers of Jews from Eastern Europe settled at the beginning of the 20th century, leading to the opening of shops and businesses that transformed the area into a bustling hub of activity. However, with the rise of Nazism and the deportation of the Jewish population, the neighborhood experienced a decline in vitality until more recent years when it regained its status as a trendy and vibrant district in Berlin
