The Metopes of the Acropolis in Athens are a series of relief sculptures that adorned the exterior of the Parthenon, a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena. These metopes depicted various mythological and historical scenes, such as the battle between the Lapiths and Centaurs, the sack of Troy, and the battle of the Gods and Giants. The metopes are considered masterpieces of ancient Greek art and are significant examples of the intricate craftsmanship and storytelling abilities of the sculptors of that time.
