The Monument of the Eponymous Heroes was built in honor of the ten heroes who gave their names to the ten tribes in Attica. The structure originally supported statues of these heroes and served as a display for important communications to the citizens of Athens. Located in the Agora, the heart of political life in Athens 2500 years ago, this monument played a significant role in the public life of the city.
