Nino Cesarini was born in Rome in 1889 and became a renowned Italian model, celebrated for his masculine beauty. Growing up in poverty after being orphaned by both parents, he became known for his collaborations with artists such as Paul Hoecker and Vincenzo Gemito, who portrayed him with a strongly homoerotic aura. His life took a significant turn in 1904 when, at just 15 years old, he met Baron Jacques d'Adelswärd-Fersen, moving with him to Capri as his secretary and companion. After the baron's death in 1923, Cesarini was unjustly accused of poisoning but was cleared by a police investigation. He received a modest inheritance from Fersen. Returning to Rome, he managed some commercial ventures but suffered serious health problems due to drug abuse. He died at the age of 54.
