Hi, my name’s Rick, and I’m your personal guide. Along with MyWoWo, I’d like to welcome you to one of the Wonders of the World: Furore.

Furore is a unique, delightful village, best known for its “fjord” and its characteristic houses perched on the rock. This magical place, often referred to as "the village that doesn’t exist" because of its peculiar structure, scattered between the sky and the sea, offers visitors a number of attractions of considerable historical, cultural and natural interest.

The Fjord of Furore is undoubtedly the main attraction. This deep, narrow cleft in the rock has been created by the the Schiato stream over thousands of years.

The “fjord” is crossed by a distinctive road bridge about 30 meters high, from which the Marmeeting, a world championship of diving from great heights, is held each year. The beach, just 25 meters long, hidden inside the fjord and accessible by a flight of steps, offers a unique experience of sea and nature.

Another gem of the small village is the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, located in the hamlet of San Michele. This 12th-century church is a magnificent example of medieval architecture, with Byzantine elements and 13th-century frescoes of great artistic value. Its panoramic location offers breathtaking views of the coastline.

Furore is also known as the "painted village," thanks to the many murals that adorn the façades of the houses and the walls along the streets. These works, by Italian and foreign artists, illustrate the local history, traditions and culture. The outdoor artworks, created in 1980 thanks to a project by the local council, transform the village into a veritable gallery of contemporary art.

Furore also offers splendid opportunities for trekking and for nature lovers, but those who like to take it a bit easier might enjoy the sentiero dell’amore, or path of love, a path 500 meters above the sea that starts out near the Church of Sant’Elia.

An interesting fact: In early July, the Fjord of Furore hosts the MarMeeting, which as I mentioned earlier, is an exciting world championship of diving from great heights. A platform is erected in the center of the bridge overlooking the fjord, where divers defy gravity from a dizzying height of 28 meters. As they twirl in the air, in just 3 seconds, they must perform precise acrobatic moves before diving into the sea at 100km/h!!!
