The Apartments of Leo X are located on the second floor of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. They are decorated with busts, portraits and murals which trace the history of the Medici family. These apartments were made in the second half of the 16th century, when the Medici were in power as an authoritarian Grand Duchy. Although the original furniture and decoration have been lost, the rooms still retain their charm and history, mainly thanks to Vasari's frescoes. The Apartments of the Elements, located in this part of the palace, are decorated with frescoes depicting mythological scenes. Among the highlights of the visit are the Terrace of Juno, where you can admire the original Putto with the dolphin by Verrocchio, as well as the Salon des Cinq-Cents and the Apartments of Éléonore, where there is a magnificent chapel decorated with frescoes by Bronzino. The slightly older Chapel of the Priors leads to rooms from the 15th and 16th centuries before the restructuring by Vasari. Don't miss the magnificent carved marble porches and wooden ceilings of the Audience Hall, as well as the magnificent Hall of Lilies decorated with frescoes by Ghirlandaio.
