GREEN CLOISTER

The Green Cloister in Santa Maria Novella is named as such due to the background color of Paolo Uccello's frescoes that decorate the interior. The cloister, on the left side of the church, was constructed in the middle of the 14th century. Its colonnades are made up of robust octagonal pillars. The frescoes by Uccello, despite their beauty, are noted to be poorly conserved.
