The Villa of the Papyri is an archaeological complex located in Herculaneum, Italy. It is named after the carbonized papyrus scrolls that have been found on the site and are being unrolled and restored in an effort to preserve ancient writings. The complex also features an impressive collection of marble and bronze statues, including portraits of philosophers and thinkers, as well as animals and athletes.
