The Palazzo Sclafani, built in 1330 in Palermo, was the scene of a feudal challenge between Matteo Sclafani and Manfredi Chiaramonte. In 1430, it became the Ospedale Grande e Nuovo, transformed into a barracks in 1832 and then a military headquarters until the early 2000s. Recently, excavations in the courtyard have revealed Arab walls and part of a Roman Domus. The facade features Norman arches and Gothic decorations, including emblems of the Sclafani house. The inner courtyard displays transformed columns, loggias with pointed arches, and Arab and Roman remains. Currently, it serves as the headquarters of the Military Region of Sicily.
