Ranieri Scàcceri (Pisa, 1118 - Pisa, June 17, 1161), a hermit proclaimed a saint after his death, became the patron saint of Pisa. Born into a wealthy family, he renounced his wealth at the age of 19 to live in poverty. After journeying to the Holy Land, he returned to Pisa in 1154. His life was marked by miracles, including the resurrection of a child. At his passing, the bells of Pisa rang on their own. Canonized in 1632, he is celebrated on June 17th.
