Cimabue was a prominent Italian artist of the 13th century, considered one of the main exponents of Byzantine painting in his time. He is credited with transitioning towards a more naturalistic and narrative style, which influenced the development of Gothic art in Italy. Cimabue is known primarily for his work "Maestà di Santa Trinita," as well as for his role in the artistic training of later artists such as Giotto.
