Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus, born in 121 AD in Rome, was a Roman emperor from 161 to 180. Adopted by Antoninus Pius, he succeeded Lucius Verus and ruled alongside his son Commodus from 177 onwards. Recognized for his wisdom, he was the fifth of the "Five Good Emperors." In addition to his political role, Marcus Aurelius was a prominent Stoic philosopher, author of the "Meditations." His reign was marked by conflicts and difficulties, but his philosophical legacy endures.
