Hadrian was a Roman emperor between the years 117 and 138 AD. He is known for his policies of consolidation and fortification of the Roman Empire, as well as his passion for arts and architecture. During his reign, he built the famous Hadrian's Wall in Britain and was also responsible for the construction of the Pantheon in Rome. He promoted the use of the architectural style known as "Roman architecture" and was a great patron of the arts, especially in sculpture and poetry. He is also credited with the design of many villas and palaces, such as the Villa Adriana in Tivoli.
