Titus Flavius Domitianus, the last emperor of the Flavian dynasty, ruled from 81 to 96. He inherited the administrative skills of his father Vespasian and his brother Titus, strengthened the imperial bureaucracy, improved the economy, and increased soldiers' salaries. Instead of seeking imperial expansions, he preferred to consolidate the borders. Although he always tried to maintain the support of the Senate, his growing paranoia and repression towards his opponents led to his assassination at the hands of the Senate, putting an end to his reign of terror.
