Caesar Vespasian Augustus, also known as Titus Flavius Vespasianus, was the Roman emperor from 69 to 79 AD. As the founder of the Flavian dynasty, he ascended to the throne in 69 AD, ending the governmental instability following Nero. Acclaimed by the legions as the new emperor, he arrived in Rome, where he gained recognition from the Senate and became consul in 70 AD, alongside his son Titus. The civil war triggered by Nero's death marked a break with the past, granting Vespasian powers similar to those of Augustus.
