Ernesto Schiaparelli

Ernesto Schiaparelli (1856-1928) was an Italian Egyptologist, renowned for his discoveries in the Theban Necropolis and his significant contribution to the Egyptian Museum of Turin. Graduating in Turin, he furthered his studies in Paris. He served as director of the Egyptian Museum of Florence (1881-1893) and later in Turin (1894-1928). He used photography to document his research, leading archaeological missions in Egypt, where he discovered the tomb of Nefertari (1904) and that of the royal architect Kha and Merit (1906). He was Superintendent of Antiquities in Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta, and Liguria (1907) and a professor of Egyptology in Turin (1910-1927). Additionally, he was a senator from 1924 until his death.
