Carlo Goldoni was a renowned Italian playwright of the 18th century. He is considered one of the fathers of modern Italian comedy, and his work contributed to the development of Italian theater. He developed a more naturalistic and realistic writing style in contrast to the traditional commedia dell'arte theater. His plays addressed themes of everyday life and offered a satirical look at society at the time. Some of his most famous works include "The Good Citizen," "The Innkeeper," and "The Housewives."
