Vincent van Gogh's painting "Almond Blossom" was created in 1890 in honor of the birth of his nephew, the son of his brother Theo. The painting depicts white almond blossoms in bloom on the branch of a tree against a turquoise sky. It is characterized by delicate brushstrokes and sharply defined contours inspired by Japanese prints. The work is considered one of his masterpieces from his time at the psychiatric hospital in Saint Rémy de Provence.
