Barcelona City History Museum
The Barcelona City History Museum, also known as MUHBA, is located at Casa Padellás in Plaça del Rei in Barcelona. The museum offers a fascinating exploration of Barcelona's history, art, and architecture. The entrance is through Casa Padellás, a 15th-century building with a beautiful arcaded Gothic patio. Inside the museum, you can explore the different historical epochs of Barcelona through maps, drawings, sculptures, and various objects. The museum also features underground archaeological treasures dating back to ancient Roman times, including ancient streets, palaces, shops, and even a frigidarium, a cold-water bath. The underground section also showcases the transition of Barcelona from a pagan city to a Christian one, with ruins of religious buildings and a necropolis. The medieval section displays everyday objects, ceramics, documents, and miniature codexes. The museum also includes the Reial de Santa Agata Chapel, a 14th-century construction with a single vaulted nave and large windows.
