Calle Bordadores is a street in Madrid where an important historical event took place in the second half of the 1800s. It is the location where King Amadeo of Savoy, son of Vittorio Emanuele, the first king of Italy, was attacked. The incident led King Amadeo to eventually give up the throne of Spain. The street is also in close proximity to Iglesia de San Ginés, one of the oldest churches in Madrid, with a troubled history marked by fires in the mid-1600s and early 19th century. Opposite the church's facade is a glimpse of Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales, a prominent convent of cloistered nuns in Madrid.
