Hi, my name’s Rick, and I’m your personal guide. Along with MyWoWo, I’d like to welcome you to one of the Wonders of the World: Miami.

Known in the USA as the capital of Latin America, Miami looks rather more like a city in the Caribbean than a modern American metropolis, despite having the third tallest and most beautiful skyline in the USA, with over 300 skyscrapers.

You’ll hear more Spanish than English spoken here, thanks especially to the large number of Cuban immigrants in the city.

Miami’s history is unique, because it’s the only large US city to have been “invented” by a woman: the wealthy Cleveland businesswoman, Julia Tuttle, who grew oranges here and persuaded the tycoon Henry Flagler to extend his railway to her land and to found the city there, on July 28, 1896.

At that time, Miami had a population of just over 300, which swelled to over a million in a few short decades, thanks to the fabulous climate, one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the USA, with an abundance of fish, flourishing agriculture and intense immigration from the Caribbean.

Miami is a thrilling city, combining the efficiency of a modern metropolis, nestled between two marvelous parks, with the charm of old twentieth-century neighborhoods, such as Española Way, Little Havana or Coral Gables, steeped in history and with a wealth of splendid buildings, Art Deco masterpieces and magnificent hotels....
