Metronome, a towering artistic installation, stands in Union Square, New York. Commissioned by Related Companies for One Union Square South, it involves the Public Art Fund and the Municipal Art Society. The funding of 4.2 million dollars makes it one of the major public art commissions. Created by Kristin Jones and Andrew Ginzel, it features a section with bursts of steam and a clock with large orange LED digits. The installation began in February 1999 and was inaugurated on October 26, 1999.
