The tragedy of the Space Shuttle Challenger on January 28, 1986, caused the death of 7 crew members. A failure in the O-ring of the right SRB caused the structural collapse of the external tank during launch. On board was Christa McAuliffe, a teacher who was going to give the first lesson from space.
