Karel Špillar (1871-1939), a Czech painter and engraver, came from a family of artists. He studied at the School of Applied Arts and excelled in decorative works. He collaborated with artists such as Jan Preisler and also resided in Paris. In 1909, he created "Homage to Prague" at the Municipal House. He taught at the School of Applied Arts and was appointed professor in 1925. His importance was rediscovered in 1980, renewing interest in his artistic work. He died in 1939, leaving a significant legacy in the Czech art scene.
