The Palace of Reason, also known as Broletto Nuovo, is the main medieval civil building in Milan. It was built in the 13th century and is located in Mercanti Square, in the center of the city. The palace is recognizable thanks to its robust portico surrounded by stone arcades, which create a large covered space. On the upper floor of the palace there is a large living room used as an exhibition venue, mainly for photography exhibitions. An interesting curiosity of Mercanti Square is that there is a particular echo under the arcades. If you stand next to a pillar and whisper a word, a person under another pillar, even if not necessarily nearby, will hear it clearly.
